Simona
trained acrobatics, gymnastics as well as ballet. In 1998 she graduated
in Dance History at the University of Bologna, where she teaches
the basics of new dance since 1999. She teaches tecnique of floor
work, release and contact improvisation, Yoga and the basics of
classical ballet combined through own research studies. Her work
is based on the choreographic experimentation through the techniques
and the concept of new dance and physical theater. Simona Bertozzi
worked since 1998 in the collective Laudati
Danza (1998-2004) in Bologna and she continued in the collective
Virgilio Sieni in Florence since 2005. At 2008 she performed at
DanceWeek in Zagreb with her solo piece
Endroit2e for which she received an
award at the competition of young choreographers Gd'a
and as well, this year won first award at Festival of dancevideo
Coreografo Elettronico, Napoli with
dancevideo Terrestre_movement in still life.

Baris
graduated with BA degrees in social pedagogy, German language, Sports
and as a teacher in special education for physically disabled children
at the University of Cologne, Germany. Although always fascinated
with movement, Baris did not start dancing until after finishing
his degree. After completing his graduation thesis on Pina Bausch's
Dancetheater he was introduced to the Axis
Syllabus - universal motor principles™ since 2000 immediately
immersed himself in study and acquired a teacher's certificate to
teach the Axis Syllabus after four years of intense study under
Frey Faust. Baris is a member of the dance collective led by Frey
Faust and has been teaching daily AS-ump™ classes for dancers in
Brussels and around Europe for almost three years. After introducing
the AS in Istanbul in 2007, Baris is now based in Brussels and teaches
regular classes for professionals in and gives workshops in Europe.
This is a second time that he teach in Split.
The Axis Syllabus focus lies in the human body in motion. Movement
possibilites of the body under the anatomical and bio mechanical
filter with its impact onto the human body are subjects of the study
in the AS. Three activity fields are from basic consideration for
exercices and movement material.
Walking - crawling - rolling.
These three activity-fields are being carefully examined and defined
in the light of efficient and safe human locomotion principles.
Harnessing and conserving momentum through a fall plays an important
role in order to create movement. The respect and knowledge of the
human design brings attention to the natural parameters which are
build into our bones, joints, muscles and ligaments.
These parameters or principles are: non-linear movements, undulatory
or sequential movement, coordinated breath mechanics, establishing
credible, functional support, using protected areas of the body
to land or leap from, staying within suggested joint motion ranges.
Class description
The spinning body
Turning and spinning are fundamental movement patterns which can
be observed in the nature and its dynamic motion. Our body can take
advantage of these patterns while moving through space. Turning
while falling releases centrifugal force and reliefs the joints
from high pressure. The fall makes kinetic energy available to channel
into the turn and construct balanced management of the muscles in
active and passive roles. The sequential locomotion offers release
and allows for undulations which feeds the body with new kinetic
energy and provide fluidity in movement.
The endless possibilities of adaptations for the individual body,
the functionality in the construction of movements and the fluidity
which evolves through this gave me a joy and a pleasure I had never
experienced before. I have always been curious to understand what
the mechanism is in a movement, to know the trick that would make
that movement easy. The AS approach to teaching through describing
and explaining the mechanical reasons for a certain choice of motif
or transition satisfied my curiosity. The purely technical, non-esthetic
approach of the AS opened a huge platform for exploration for me.
Studying the Axis Syllabus, I was able to strengthen and release
my body while respecting it’sunique skeletal architecture.
I think that studying the AS allowed me to increase my awareness
of the opportunities my body gives me as I move through space. This
awareness presents me with the chance to make choices to my advantage,
with the gift of achieving grace and power as I dance. The consistent
efforts of the AS community to: integrate information from alternative
and conventional medicine as well as the results of recent biomechanics
experiments in the classroom, to research and apply physics and
anatomical parameters to movement, to tailor this information to
the individual students need, these things convinced me to dedicate
myself to intensify study...
Anne-Cécile
Chane-Tune started to dance ballet in Reunion Island at the age
of 6. With 17 she attended the Conservatoire National Supérieur
de Musique et de Danse de Lyon (CNSMD) where she studied in the
contemporary dance section. After 3 years she graduated with a dance
diplom and went to Brussels where she followed a formation for professional
dancers during 9 months under Alix Riga called Passerelles.
Thereupon Anne-Cécile got an engagement with the Ultima Vez company
for a replacement to perform Blush, got involved in different companies
and projetcts as with Animae Corpus company with Thibaud Le Maguer
for the creation Pellis, the performance project Samsara and up
to the present with Mattéo Moles the creation Gadget.
Currently she is part of the company Parcours under the direction
of Félicette Chazerand with whom she created A l'ombre des arbres.
In France she is dancing for the Arcosm Company with the piece Lisa,
a collaborative project of Thomas Guerry and Camille Rocailleux
exploring the relation between rythm, musicality and dance.
Throughout these experiences with various people she found important
relationships and inspiration for her own artistic direction. Anne-Cécile
enjoys to work with different artists in collaborative forms and
wants to embody her own ideas for love in a constant research and
study of movement and art.
WORKSHOP:
Watering emotion with movement 2.10. - 6.10.
14:00-16:00
The
objectiv of this workshop is to explore various ways of finding
a quality in movement like fluidity and flux. These will serve as
elements to produce movement material and in the same time create
a bridge to link different tools of a creative process with your
feelings and emotions in an instant moment. The focus will be on
a constant and conscious exploration of process without having any
pressure for a result.
I like to use emotions as a consequence of motion in order to create
a space inside and outside of us, find our interpretation through
sensations and give notion to the space around you, your partners
and the public.
The developement and sharpening of awareness of your own body and
mind with its interelated physical, emotional and social states
can provide a base for interactions between you and your environment.
